Appearance[]

Personality[]
Hayate is shown to be a murderous individual in Kougasaki's memories. He loathed Oni so much that he killed his own wife and daughter after finding out they're one, except his own son, which he showed sadistic tendencies in inflicting numerous wounds and disfiguring him to the point he needed stitches. Due to this and his murder of his wife and daughter, he incurred his own son's wrath who vowed to kill him at all costs.
Even after seeing his son again, he shown no remorse over killing his wife and daughter because he believes they were nothing more than onis that needs to be exteriminated.
Hayate also shown no concerns for his fellow captains and considered them as disposable pawns in battle against the Onis. He is also intolerent for failures and weaknesses as shown he had his subordinate to arrest the weaker captain who was easily defeated by Jin (Hayate's son) as he didn't save the weaker captain out of concern, but rather for punishment for his weaknesses and incompetence to him after his failure against Kougasaki, revealing it was never a rescue mission.
He does have a sense of caution when he knows he is not ready yet to fight against Naito Mudano (an elite oni who killed hundreds of his enemies) when decided to take his leave because he only came to arrest the very weak Momotaro Captain who was easily defeated by Jin. He warns Mudano that the world is going to fall into chaos.
