Samidare Momoya (
Appearance[]
Samidare is an old man with a grayish hair and beard. He has a gunshot scar on the upper part of his forehead and on his face between his eyes. He typically wears the Momotaro Corp's uniform, consisting of a pinstriped white suit and a white jacket with a fur collar signifying his rank as a General Commanding Officer.
After his conflict with Shiki in their first encounter, He also has a new scar over the left side of his eye.
Personality[]
He displays a serious personality that puts his duty before personal relation. He is also merciless against Oni, ambusing Shiki in his home and forcing him to watch as Samidare killed his father.
Powers & Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: Samidare is a Momotaro who attained the position of General Commanding Officer, implying his immense strength equalling his own responsibilities. He is powerful enough to slay Tsuyoshi Ichinose, his former colleague, although the latter's strength has dulled due to years of retirement. Moreover, he is able to hold his own against a Berserk state Shiki who is also the Child of Kishin, surviving the Oni's attacks and coming out of a point-blank blast singed and scarred, but ultimately alive. He also survived being rammed by a car as well as getting his side slashed. If not for the presence of bystanders and the notion that he'd be revealed, Samidare would've killed Shiki.
Black Bacteria Manipulation: Shiki's abilities involved creating and manipulating the black bacteria inside his body. He used it to form a lasso meant to catch a teenager off guard, a pair of machete, and a spiderweb meant to restrain his enemies. He is capable of forming a single machete in the nick of time to fatally impale a fellow Momotaro through the chest.
Plot[]
Samidare appears in the first chapter. In a flashback, he was seen with a bandage covering half of his face. In that rainy day, he asks his senior/colleague, Tsuyoshi if he's really about to adopt a child carrying an Oni blood even after knowing the consequences.
Some years later, Samidare appeared in front of Shiki's house wearing fancy clothes and some visible scars on his face. While he was walking towards their house, he was hit by Tsuyoshi's car that made him to fly towards the house. But since he is a Momotaro who can use bacteria at their own will, he quickly recovered and caught up with the father and son. The car crashed in a construction site tied up Shiki with his ability. While Shiki was laying above the ground, Samidare greets his senior and tells them that he had the intention to kill the both of them and that he cannot let an Oni person to live within the human world. But, it wasn't easy because he had to face off against his Tsuyoshi. The two clashed but at the end, Samidare was able to slash a deep cut on Tsuyoshi.
When he was about to kill Shiki, Tsuyoshi stopped him and while he was holding one of his legs, Samidare asks Tsuyoshi why he is so desperate in saving someone like Shiki. Tsuyoshi answered it proudly and said it's because Shiki is his son. While both of them are busy, Shiki have gone berserk and attacked him. Because of this, Samidare received some damaged and tried to fight off against Shiki. It wasn't easy but after awhile, Shiki went back to normal but he wasn't able to finish Shiki off because a helicopter that will pick him up came and he disappeared while Shiki and Tsuyoshi are left behind.
Etymology[]
- His given name Samidare means "five" (五 sa), "moon" (月 mi) and "rain" (雨 dare).
- His given name can also means "a heavy rain that occurs around the fifth lunar month, an early summer rain" (五月雨 samidare).
- His surname Momoya means "peach" (桃 momo) and "dwelling, store" (屋 ya).
